The moment is finally here. Jeep has officially revealed its world’s first electric vehicle, the Wagoneer S. Jeep’s premium electric SUV offers a range of more than 300 miles, a tech-laden interior and “ultra-fast” acceleration. The rugged SUV brand also unveiled a Trailhawk concept designed to conquer any terrain. Check out all the details below.
Meet the first Jeep EV, the Wagoneer S
“The launch of the all-electric Jeep Wagoneer S marks a new chapter in the rich history of the Jeep brand,” Jeep CEO Antonio Filosa said in the release.
After introducing its world’s first electric SUV over the past few months, Jeep finally revealed the Wagoneer S on Thursday.
The Wagoneer S is “distinctly a Jeep and 100% electric in every way,” according to Filosa. Jeep’s world-first electric vehicle, the Wagoneer S Launch Edition, delivers “exhilarating performance.”
With 600 horsepower and 617 lb-ft of torque, the electric SUV can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds. It should also offer a range of more than 300 miles.
Powered by a 400V, 100kWh battery, the Wagoneer S can go from 20% to 80% in 23 minutes with a DC fast charger.
Jeep’s first electric vehicle is built on the STLA Large platform, the same platform expected to underpin the upcoming electric Dodge Charger. However, Jeep designers and engineers have fine-tuned the platform, including length, width, suspension and powertrain configurations, specifically for the Wagoneer S.
Electric drive modules, designed by Stellantis, deliver instant torque independently to the front and rear wheels.
Typically a Jeep, built for the modern era (EV)
Standard 4WD is designed for a variety of road conditions. Jeep has included its signature Selec-Terrain for better traction in all weather and road conditions with Auto, Sport, Eco, Snow and Sand modes.
New technologies and features played a key role in the development of the Wagoneer S. Jeep engineers improved the body’s torsional rigidity by 35 percent compared to other mid-size Jeep SUVs. Adjustments reduce interior noise and vibration for a quiet, smooth ride.
“Forged from a heritage of premium, innovation and refinement,” Jeep’s first electric vehicle is poised to blaze a new trail for the rugged SUV maker.
Although you can see clear Jeep elements, the Wagoneer S reinvents the brand for the electric age.
One of the most notable features is the redesigned seven-slot grille with ambient lighting. Without the need for airflow to cool a massive engine, the grille now features a sleek, revamped look.
The first Jeep Wagoneer S, the 2024 Launch Edition, will feature exclusive features with dark accents, including 20-inch gloss black wheels, among other exterior elements.
With a focus on efficiency, the Wagoneer S has a CD of 0.29, the lowest of any Jeep vehicle. It’s also 15% better than the average SUV.
Jeep designed the roof and rear hatch spoiler to minimize the size of the wake. Added flush door handles, a rear spoiler and integrated fins aid airflow to reduce drag.
Additionally, Jeep has equipped its first electric vehicle with underbody shields, 3D-shaped front tires and side supports for maximum aerodynamics.
The Launch Edition includes a Level 2 home or public charger (48 amps) via Free2move Charge, part of the Stellantis charging network.
Discover the interior
The first electric Jeep is packed with new technology, luxury and innovation. Building on the latest Jeep Grand Wagoneer design, the cockpit is fully digital.
Inside, you’ll first notice a massive “best-in-class” screen with over 45″ of usable space, including an exclusive 10.25″ interactive screen for the front passenger.
Meanwhile, the 12.3-inch central screen is surrounded by a refined metal cross-shaped applique with a glazed lace pattern.
The screen displays EV-specific features such as charge level, battery status and available power. It’s also powered by UConnect 5, which is more responsive and visible than previous generations.
Jeep’s first electric vehicle features several new details, including a wine red stitched steering wheel with a flat-bottom design, which adds to its sporty interior. Another new Jeep feature is electronic door unlocking, activated with a simple push of the thumb.
The Launch Edition model has customizable LED lighting (day/night settings) and ambient lighting with up to 64 colors.
A 19-speaker McIntosh premium audio system delivers an immersive experience with a 1,160-watt amp and 12-inch subwoofer.
Jeep says the Wagoneer S is the only electric vehicle in its segment to feature exclusive standard heated and ventilated rear seats.
With OTA updates, the Wagoneer S will continue to improve. Buyers are automatically enrolled in Jeep Wave, a “premium loyalty program” offering benefits like hassle-free maintenance (at no extra cost) and dedicated 24/7 support.
Jeep says its first electric vehicle, the Wagoneer S, will be available in dealerships in the United States and Canada starting this fall (2024). The starting price for the Wagoneer S Launch Edition is $71,995, including destination.
A rugged edition of the Jeep Wagoneer S Trailhawk?
Staying true to its rugged roots, Jeep has revealed the Wagoneer S Trailhawk EV concept. The electric SUV is designed for challenging off-road adventures.
Built on the STLA Large platform, the Trailhawk concept “shows what the all-electric Jeep Wagoneer S lineup is truly capable of, from easily taking tight turns to navigating new terrain off the beaten path.” , according to Filosa.
The rugged electric SUV features the best of the Wagoneer S with enhancements for off-road exploration. For example, Jeep added Rock mode to its Selec-Terrain and a driver-selectable rear axle lock.
Equipped with 31.5-inch all-terrain tires, the trail-ready Trailhawk 4WD is a “go-anywhere, do-it-all SUV.”
The concept is equipped with raised suspension, heavy-duty tow hooks and air extractors for increased capabilities. Jeep says the rugged electric SUV is the brand’s perfect blend of off-road capability, high-speed performance and authentic design.
You can see the aggressive design upgrades on the front and rear, designed for dusty and rocky terrain. Jeep’s signature seven-slot grille features a bolder design, textured slits and metallic accents.
The Wagoneer S Trailhawk Concept is presented in a special edition Bruce exterior color. It includes rugged off-road features like an anti-glare hood decal, flush badging, 18-inch multi-piece wheels, a laser-cut aluminum roof rack, and a dual-pane panoramic sunroof for that outdoor feeling.
The concept has been enhanced inside with mantis green material and real stone veneer inspired by meteorites.
A redesigned steering wheel lets you lock in for more control. It features a tactical-inspired grip section (9 and 3 o’clock positions) for off-road riding and a rounded profile for easy gripping capabilities.
The dashboard includes a cross grab bar for added off-road stability. The seats, covered in Mantis Green, maintain the balance of sport and luxury featured in the Wagoneer S Launch Edition.
Meanwhile, the door and center console feature a new cargo management system with elastic straps. The center console is a large open storage bin with a wireless phone charger and USB outlets for all your tools and electronics.
Jeep has not yet revealed when the Trailhawk edition will be available. Check back soon for more details.
