The month of June was great, although exhausting, on the college football recruiting calendar. This past weekend, the best players in the country did their thing in the OT7 overtime final in Florida. Next week, the top quarterbacks in the Class of 2025 will travel to Los Angeles for the 2024 Elite 11 Finals.
In between all of this, major visits are taking place on college campuses from coast to coast as schools prepare for the July surge of commitments (before the commitments arrive, we receive the visits) .
The team of recruiting experts at 247Sports, the industry leader in college football recruiting, has selected the visit or scenario they are interested in this Father’s Day weekend.
Alabama makes waves with No. 6 TE
Kaleb Edwards visits Capstone for the second time
“Alabama has a big weekend with players coming from all over the country, but one of the best tight ends in the country will be in attendance after being in the state earlier this week. El Dorado Hills (Calif.) Oak Ridge tight end Kaleb Edwards was at Texas last weekend I took a midweek trip to Auburn earlier this week and will now head to Tuscaloosa for his official visit. The Tide offered the No. 6 tight end in the class of 2025 when he was there in April for the A-Day game, but the relationship with the head coach Kalen DeBoer and offensive coordinator Nick Sheridan dates back to when they were among the first to propose Edwards to Washington. Bryan Ellis, the Tide’s tight ends coach, is also involved in his recruitment. But DeBoer and Sheridan’s offer — and the presence of Edwards’ neighbor, Austin Mackin the Tide schedule, puts Alabama in an important position heading into the visit. —Brandon Huffman, 247Sports
Georgia in a big battle with…Duke?
Decisive weekend for the Top 100 DL
“Georgia has a huge visit on deck with Grimsley Top100 defensive lineman from Greensboro (NC) Bryce Davis come to campus. I know I know. Everyone drew the 6-foot-3, 245-pounder in Georgia Class of 2025 for some time, but I sincerely believe that his interest in Duke is real — and the Blue Devils coaching staff couldn’t have made a better impression on the out-of-state native during last week’s official visit. I’m told some members of the Davis family prefer Manny Diaz’s Duke program over any other, but there’s no denying his love for Georgia football. Keep an eye on Clemson Also. The Tigers are a legitimate contender. However, this weekend will be hugely important and will likely result in either his addition to the Bulldogs’ commitment list or when the country Player #63 overall realizes he wants to be a Blue Devil, or maybe even a Tiger.” —Tom Loy, 247Sports
Michigan hopes to change buzz with 5-star extension
Wolverines tout academics in duel with Stanford
“Overland Park (Kan.) Blue Valley Northwest five-star offensive tackle André Babalola Head towards Michigan This weekend. There’s a legitimate buzz in Stanfordfollow-up favor to last weekend’s official in Palo Alto. Michigan now has its turn, and the Wolverines may be the school with the best chance to change that buzz. They have academics to offer, which is important in this decision, and development of the offensive line with the head coach Sherrone Moore and offensive line coach Grant Newsome able to tag the team during recruitment. Michigan has also done well in that area, attracting players like former Kansas City (Mo.) four-star offensive tackle Rockhurst. Andrew Sprague one year ago. The Wolverines started the weekend with a bang, shaking up top safety Kainoa Winston and moving their class ranking from No. 51 to No. 40. Can they keep the atmosphere good?” —Allen Trieu, 247Sports
Gamecocks risk losing top 25 commitment
“We’re going slightly against the ‘big visitor to watch this weekend’ prompt, because for the Gamecocks, this weekend might inadvertently be defined by who’s in attendance. someone else’s Campus. Chester (Va.) Thomas Dale, four-star cornerback Shamari Counts is the highest ranked player engaged in Caroline from the south, but he changed his official visit schedule and it no longer includes the Gamecocks. He will be in Michigan this weekend, taking a trip June 20 to Virginia (coinciding with his high school team camping at UVA) and visiting Georgia June 21-23. Earls said he remains committed to the Gamecocks, but it may only be a matter of time before he’s in another program’s class. The concern for South Carolina isn’t limited to Earls’ official visit to Georgia during the last open window in June in place of the Gamecocks. He was supposed to officially visit South Carolina from May 31 to June 2, but that was postponed so the Gamecocks could have him before the summer dead period began. » —Brian Dohn, 247Sports
Tennessee can throw a two-team party for 5-star EDGE
Volumes gain momentum in hot pursuit for Isaiah Gibson
“Warner Robins (Ga.) five-star edge rusher Isaiah Gibson will make an official visit to Tennessee This weekend. The Nations #1 edge rusher committed to U.S.C. since March, but Gibson continues to test the market. Georgia, who hosted him on an official visit the weekend of May 31, is widely considered the Trojans’ biggest threat. 247Sports reported Last month, Tennessee, however, made a charge against USC and Georgia as its top contender. The Vols most recently hosted Gibson in April and were subsequently added to this weekend’s schedule. Gibson hopes to continue his recruiting into the fall, but Tennessee can assert its position as a top contender with an official knockout visit this weekend. » —Anna Adams, 247Sports
Texas welcomes Dakorien Moore, the nation’s top WR
Are the Longhorns Moore’s surefire favorite?
“Staying with the five-star theme, I will pick the No. 1 receiver in the country. Dakorien Moore. While it’s true that I could probably list the Duncanville, Texas, goal every week, this week seems particularly important. His recruitment seems to take a new turn over the weeks after his withdrawal LSU in May before visiting state of ohio and return to Baton Rouge. The Tigers are now back in the spotlight, but Texas was the school that generated the most buzz when Moore initially opened up about his recruitment. It’s no secret that Texas has several built-in advantages with Moore since his mother was born in Austin and he still has family in the area. The Texas program has instilled a lot of confidence in getting the deal done and adding the elite prospect to one of the best receiver rooms in the country and the Longhorns have all three Crystal Ball predictions for Moore in their favor. Even though a visit to Oregon still looms next week, it seems like a huge moment for everyone involved. » —Mike Roach, 247Sports
Utah looks to make some noise with unique ‘quiet’ 5-star commitment
Ole Miss commit Jerome Myles has a big visit planned to SLC
“Utah kept a quiet commitment from the state’s five-star receiver Jerome Myles until he makes a resounding official visit to Be miss in April, then enlisting with the rebels. Things have been slow since then, but this weekend the Utes have a chance to bounce back for the Draper Corner Canyon point guard. The ties to Salt Lake City already run deep, and the first-year quarterback is expected to Isaac Wilson – his former high school and 7-on-7 club teammate – will be Myles’ host player throughout the weekend as the Utes hope to convince the highly talented pass catcher to stay close to home. Myles also has trips planned to Texas A&M (June 21) and Michigan (July 26) as other contenders fight to catch up to Ole Miss, but Utah has the first opportunity to close the gap. —Blair Angulo, 247Sports
