MATTHEW Perry was romantically involved with Charlie Sheen’s ex-wife – who is currently under investigation over the Friends star’s drug-related death, US Sun has learned.
It was reported earlier this week that Brooke Mueller, 46, was questioned multiple times after police executed a search warrant at the sober living center where she lives in May.
Police investigating Perry’s ketamine-related death last October reportedly confiscated an iPhone and laptop belonging to Mueller, and she hired a lawyer.
It was claimed that Perry and New York actress Mueller met in rehab and struck up an “unlikely friendship”.
But the Friends star’s ex-girlfriend and former assistant, Kayti Edwards, revealed that Perry was “romantically involved” with Mueller almost 20 years ago after they met at Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.
Mueller did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Edwards, 48, exclusively told the US Sun: “Brooke dated Matthew in 2006, around the time I started dating Matthew.
“They certainly didn’t first meet in rehab, we all met in AA in 2006.
“She and I were seeing him at the same time, there was no girlfriend-boyfriend relationship – we were just dating.
“He would take me on dates and he would take her on dates. It was like, ‘Are you going out with Brooke tonight?’
“There was some back and forth between her and I, but they were definitely romantically involved.
“She was like my rival, I knew her and I’m sure she knew me.
“We were hanging out with Matthew, we were going out with him and it wasn’t really a big deal.
“It was probably a three-month thing because that’s what we were, him and I.
“Him, Brooke and I, he never went out in public and didn’t seem romantic, it was always at his house.”
In Touch was first to report Tuesday that Mueller had been questioned in connection with Perry’s death.
The next day, the same outlet quoted Charlie Sheen’s attorney, Gregory J. Pedrick, as downplaying Mueller’s connection to the case.
Brooke dated Matthew in 2006, around the same time I started dating Matthew.
Kayti Edwards
Pedrick said: “I think Ms. Mueller’s past choices may have put her in a position to provide anecdotal and incidental information to authorities investigating Mr. Perry’s death. Nothing more.”
Immediately after Perry’s tragic death at age 54 in a hot tub at his home in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles, Edwards said she believed he had suffered a relapse in his drug addiction.
When it was confirmed in December that she was right, she called for her doctors to be investigated.
Edwards – who is the granddaughter of Hollywood legend Julie Andrews and currently runs a horse rescue in Yucca Valley, California – worked as an assistant for Perry in 2010 and 2011.
She last spoke to her former lover and employer after her memoir Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing was published in November 2022.
She thinks Perry and Mueller – who was married to Sheen from 2008 to 2011 and share 15-year-old twins, Max and Bob – may have gotten back in touch after that because he never told her speak.
“In 2010, when I started working for Matthew, I even asked about her and if he was still talking to Brooke and what he thought about her being with Charlie,” she explained .
“He said it didn’t surprise him because that’s who she was. She wanted to date an actor who had money, so it didn’t surprise her.
“That’s what she wanted, that lifestyle of being married and having kids with an actor, and I don’t think Matthew would ever give her that.
“At that point he said he hadn’t spoken to her, so they must have reconnected more recently, in the last couple of years or so, I guess.
“She was sober when she was dating Matthew in 2006 because he was sober at that time.
“It’s possible that after Charlie she went off the rails and they reconnected in rehab.
“I guess I never asked, but if they were hanging out, I’m pretty sure he would have said, ‘Guess who I ran into?'”
While it’s still unclear what exactly police asked Mueller in connection with Perry’s death, Kayti says he had a history of asking others to deliver drugs to him.
“Here’s the bottom line: Matthew was very persuasive,” she said.
“When he was in active addiction, he pretended it was no big deal.
“In my mind it was like it’s no big deal, why don’t you go get it?
“One time he was filming at Paramount Studios and he sent me to pick up a package for him from an office, it could have been a doctor’s office.
“I didn’t open it, it was just a box but I had to walk it around the studio with a name tag and go to his trailer and I was greeted with an envelope of money to deliver the box. To this day I don’t know what was in the box.
“That’s how he worked, I was like a courier.
“Matthew was never taken in because he was smart and let everyone else do his dirty work.
“I don’t pity the doctors who gave him this medicine, but I feel bad if anyone might get in trouble for doing him a favor.
“I don’t know Brooke well enough, but I know that if she was involved in this, it was probably just to get something out of him.”
Matthew Perry’s eventful love life
Longtime bachelor Matthew Perry revealed just a year before his death that he desperately wanted to settle down and have children. In a poignant interview in October 2022, the Friends star revealed that he was “not afraid of love anymore.”
Here we look at the past loves of Perry’s life – and a crippling crush on a co-star.
Tricia Fisher
Perry began dating Fisher – the half-sister of the late Star Wars legend Carrie – while he was making his film debut, in A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon, at age 18.
Gwyneth Paltrow
Although they never officially dated, Perry revealed that he and Gwynnie shared a brief “closet make-out session” the summer before Friends hit screens in 1994.
He later worried that the revelation would upset her, telling GQ: “I hope she thinks it’s a cute story,” he said. “It would be bad if Gwyneth Paltrow hated me; I wouldn’t like that.”
Julia Robert
With Friends, just a year old in 1995, Perry’s newfound fame led to his first high-profile romance, with Julia Roberts.
The pair became friends, before the Pretty Woman star’s appearance in the show’s second season, after sending “hundreds” of messages every day – via fax.
Yasmine Bleeth
Shortly after splitting from Roberts, the Friends star moved on to star in Baywatch – named in the sitcom as Chandler’s ideal wife.
In fact, the two men were dating at the time – although neither spoke about it and the romance, in 1996, fizzled out after a few months.
Molly Hurwitz
The star came closest to the altar with his literary manager Molly Hurwitz, whom he first met in 2018.
Perry had recently recovered from a near-fatal incident in which his colon ruptured, due to opioid abuse, and he remained in a coma for two weeks, with his family told he had a 2% chance of survival.
Hurwitz went public with her romance on Valentine’s Day in 2020, when she posted an Instagram message saying, “Second year being my Valentine, but her first as an Instagram influencer.” HVD is my favorite.
Six months after announcing their engagement, the two men separated.
Perry released a statement saying, “Sometimes things don’t work out as planned, and that’s the case here. I wish Molly the best.”
Edwards also hinted that Perry and Mueller may have reconnected over a shared interest in pickleball.
Perry was a huge fan of the sport and spent his final hours before dying enjoying a match at his local club.
Edwards said: “Brooke had come up in a conversation in the past because I was like, ‘Wow, she met Charlie Sheen.’ It’s weird.
“Charlie was so crazy back then and she was a preppy little girl who played pickleball on the weekends.
“She wasn’t someone you would expect to date Charlie.
“She was more Matthew’s type than me because I was tattooed and rugged and she was the type of girl who would play pickleball with him, even though in 2006 Matthew was more of a tennis player than a pickleball player.
“It’s possible they played pickleball together toward the end, since she was no longer with Charlie and he was recently single.”
