A lip reader has revealed the Princess of Wales’ heartwarming reaction to the standing ovation at the Wimbledon final.
As Charlotte, nine, and her mother, the Princess of Wales, 42, arrived to take their seats in the royal box at centre court, the couple were greeted with a standing ovation and applause.
The mother and daughter, along with Kate’s sister Pippa Middleton, watched on as defending champion Carlos Alcaraz took on veteran Novak Djokovic, winning in three sets.

Speaking to The Sun, the expert claims the mother-of-three asked her daughter to “come here” as they approached their seats in the prestigious Royal Box.

According to the expert, Princess Charlotte looked slightly confused as they arrived at their designated seats, with Kate guiding her, with Pippa close behind.

Kate then said: “We’ve been watching a lot of stuff on TV so it’s great to finally meet you,” before repeating herself as the athlete struggled to hear her.

Before handing the trophy over to Alcaraz earlier, Kate commiserated and shook the hand of runner-up Novak Djokovic.

Before the mother-daughter duo took their seats in the royal box, they met with women’s tennis stars including Emma Radacanu, 21, who all presented Kate with a bouquet of flowers.
Charlotte had a big smile on her face as she met the tennis star, who sadly saw her Wimbledon dream dashed on Centre Court by New Zealand qualifier Lulu Sun last week.
Kate and Charlotte were also greeted by Sonay Kartal, Lily Miyazaki, Lucy Shuker and Flora Johnson as they arrived on the Wimbledon players’ lawn before entering Centre Court.
Charlotte made a “promise” to wheelchair tennis player Shuker that she would try the sport alongside her mother.

US Open winner Raducanu said it was “incredible” to have the support of the princess and “to see her here so healthy and so happy”.
The daughter of the Prince and Princess of Wales, who wore a £70 polka dot dress from Guess, was delighted to meet the tennis star and was pictured grinning from ear to ear in his presence.
The mother and daughter then met with the ‘Work at Wimbledon’ programme which supports young people from diverse backgrounds with roles to play at the championships.
Alcaraz now has four Grand Slam trophies with a perfect record in major finals, following his two Wimbledon triumphs, his US Open victory in 2022 and his victory at Roland Garros last month. The defeat denied Djokovic a 25th Grand Slam title, overtaking Margaret Court on the all-time list and also equalling Roger Federer’s total of eight men’s singles titles at Wimbledon.
They were without ten-year-old Prince George, perhaps indicating he will join his father at the Euro final in Berlin tonight.
Meeting the players, Kate said Charlotte, who was wearing a navy polka dot dress, had “practiced yesterday” and that tennis was “really great for young people”.

Kate said she “topped off the leaderboard” with Charlotte during Wimbledon, adding: “As a family we play a lot.”
After Shuker asked her to try wheelchair tennis, Kate said: “I’ve tried wheelchair rugby, but not tennis. You’ll have to keep me posted.”
Shuker, Britain’s top-ranked female wheelchair tennis player, said: “She was just saying how amazing it was to watch and follow everyone’s careers.
“Alfie Hewett won the men’s wheelchair tennis tournament a few days ago. I just asked them if they played tennis themselves, which they did, and I said, ‘Have you ever tried wheelchair tennis?’
“And I got a little promise from Princess Charlotte that she would try it.”
Shuker added: “For me, it’s incredibly moving to be here and to be invited to meet the Princess today.”
Speaking about meeting Kate, Raducanu said: “It was lovely to see Her Royal Highness again. I’ve met her twice before, and it was really lovely to meet Charlotte too, because I’ve never met her before.”
“It’s amazing to see her become such a tennis champion and to watch all of us follow her.
“We talked a little bit about my tournament, tennis, and also how I missed last year but was really excited to come back this year. And a little bit about her tennis because she loves it.”

Charlotte, 9, also joined her mother in the royal box last year. They were without Prince George, 10, perhaps indicating he will join his father at the Euro final in Berlin tonight.
Asked about Kate’s presence at the tournament after her diagnosis, Raducanu said: “I think it just shows her resilience and what a role model she is and it’s amazing to see her here looking so healthy and happy.”
Kate is undergoing chemotherapy and made her first public appearance since announcing her cancer diagnosis in March at the Trooping the Colour ceremony in London last month.
She did not attend the women’s singles final on Saturday, and Wimbledon chairwoman Debbie Jevans presented the trophy to Barbora Krejcikova on her behalf.
During their meeting on Sunday, Krejcikova presented the Princess of Wales with the racket she used in her victory.
