Amazon Prime Day Apple deals include big discounts on AirPods, iPads, and other gadgets we tested in 2024

Review after review and guide after guide, Apple products tend to come out on top in our tests. While Apple could potentially announce new iPhone, Apple Watch, and/or AirPods models at its annual fall hardware event, one of the things we like about the company’s devices is their longevity. So a device you buy today should serve you well for years to come, especially with future software updates.

Now that Amazon Prime Day 2024 is here, we’re seeing plenty of great Apple Prime Day deals to choose from (iPhones and HomePods excluded). So if you’ve been thinking about a new MacBook, iPad, Apple Watch, or a pair of AirPods, these best Prime Day deals are a good place to start.

As with all of Engadget’s tech deals, we only highlight discounts on gear we’ve tested or used and know is worth your money. We’ve cross-referenced our guides and reviews with Amazon’s Prime Day deals to come up with what you see here. And we’ll be updating these deal roundups throughout Amazon’s two-day Prime Day sales.

The latest Apple Watch is $280 for Prime Day, down from $399 in the catalog. The Series 9 was announced at Apple’s iPhone event last fall, and there’s a good chance we’ll see a new model this year, but it probably won’t be as affordable.

The Apple Watch Series 9 is our favorite smartwatch, our top pick for an Apple Watch, and scored a 92 in our review. It’s great at tracking health and fitness, has a bright, always-on display, and integrates seamlessly with your iPhone. This fall, it’s also getting some fun new updates with watchOS 11, which Apple announced at WWDC.

The Apple Watch SE is the budget model in the lineup and is now available for $170. It has been selling for $189 for most of the last few months. We recommend it to people looking for great integration with iPhone notifications and solid health tracking capabilities. It doesn’t have all the sensors of the Apple Watch Series 9, but as we said in our review, you get a lot of features for the price.

The Apple Watch Ultra 2 is on sale for $699.99 for Prime Day, down from Apple’s list price of $799. As we said in our Apple Watch buying guide , this is the watch to buy for adventurers or anyone who needs a bigger screen in a more rugged package. It has a 49mm display, cellular and GPS connectivity, and a few features not found on other Apple Watches, like a dive depth counter and a siren.

Prime Day dropped the price of the latest AirPods Pro to $170, down from $249 in the catalog. They’ve been hitting $189 regularly over the past few months, and $180 is the lowest price we’ve seen before. The AirPods Pro are the current top pick for iOS users in our best earbuds guide thanks to their excellent Transparency mode, seamless iPhone and Siri integration, and solid noise cancellation. They’ll soon get an update that lets you nod or shake your head to answer Siri’s questions.

The third-generation AirPods are now priced at a record low of $120, down from $169. We gave them an 88 in our review thanks to their improved design and sound. Note that they have an older chip and lack active noise cancellation, but they are water-resistant and more affordable than the Pro model.

Apple’s over-ear headphones, the AirPods Max, are currently $394, down from $549 in the catalog. The lowest price we’ve tracked before that was $430. They earned an 84 score in our review when they were released in 2020.

The main downside is the price, but we appreciated the excellent, balanced sound and active noise cancellation (ANC). And we got 20 hours of use from the earbuds on a single charge, as Apple promises.

We called the new iPad Air “the iPad to get” in our review back in May, and it’s the Apple tablet we recommend to most people in our buying guide. Right now, the 11-inch model with 128GB of storage is down to $559 thanks to Amazon’s sale. A $30 discount is the biggest we’ve seen so far. You can get the 13-inch version for just $738.

The new iPad Air features the M2 chip, which makes it fast enough for everyday productivity and lets it handle more than just entertainment. The screen is bright and sharp, and the camera has thankfully been moved to the edge of the landscape.

Back in May, Apple launched two sizes of the new iPad Pro, each featuring the latest M4 chip. Currently, the Pro tablet is the only Apple hardware to feature the company’s latest chip. For Prime Day, you can pick up the 11-inch iPad Pro with 256GB of storage for $919, down from its list price of $999. Some might see a $20 coupon they can clip, which will bring the price down even further.

The 13-inch model with the same capacity is $1,198 instead of $1,299. Before that, the biggest discounts we saw were $70 and $100 off the two models, respectively. We were impressed by the iPad Pro’s incredible display and incredibly powerful performance, as you can see in our review, but we called it “prohibitively expensive.” This discount might change things a bit.

The standard iPad wasn’t replaced at Apple’s iPad event in May, so the 10th-generation iPad is still the most current. The Prime Day price brings it down to $299, which is a record low. With the launch of the new Pro and Air models, Apple has permanently reduced the list price to $349. We gave it a score of 85 after its October 2022 launch. It’s also the budget pick in our iPad buying guide.

The iPad mini is the smallest tablet in Apple’s lineup (it also wasn’t replaced this year), and Amazon has now dropped its price to $380 for Prime Day. The lowest price we’ve tracked before was $380 in last year’s sale, and the list price is $499. The Mini is our pick for one-handed use in our iPad guide, and it’s best for those who want something they can easily toss in a bag or use as a high-performance e-reader.

Apple is keeping the M2-compatible MacBook Air 2022 around for now, and that’s a good thing. We think it’s the best budget MacBook you can buy. Right now, for Prime Day, a configuration with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage is $799. That’s better than Apple’s $999 price tag. It has a bright display, powerful performance, and a thin, portable design.

The latest MacBook Air models with the M3 chip start at $850 for the 13-inch model and $1,049 for the 15-inch model. Before that, the lowest prices we tracked were $899 and $1,129, respectively. Apple released the new MacBook Air models in March, and as we note in our review, they’re not a huge departure from the previous generation, though that’s not a bad thing. The 13-inch version remains our top recommendation for most people in our buying guide.

The MacBook Pro models with the M3 chip were released late last year and have established themselves as the go-to laptops for professionals. For Prime Day, Amazon is selling the 14-inch model with the M3 chip, 8GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage for $1,399, after the discount. The 16-inch Pro with the M3 Pro chip, 18GB of memory, and 512GB SSD is now $1,999, down from $2,499 for the suggested retail price. We gave both the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro laptops 90s in our review when they debuted, praising the stunning displays, fast chips, and solid port selection.

A four-pack of Apple AirTags retails for $99 at full price, though they often sell for $80. Right now, for Prime Day, they’re $75. We think these are the best Bluetooth trackers you can buy if you’re an iPhone user. They rely on Apple’s vast Find My network that calls every nearby iPhone to anonymously pinpoint an AirTag’s location. We found their location features to be eerily accurate.

If you’re buying one of Apple’s new iPads and want a compatible Apple Pencil, you’ll need either the Apple Pencil Pro or the Apple Pencil USB-C. The Apple Pencil Pro is currently $119 for Prime Day. It adds new features like compression, rolling, and haptic feedback, and can charge by attaching magnetically to the side of the new iPad models. Just note that it’s only compatible with new models.

The Apple Pencil USB-C is $69 after Prime Day discount. This one only charges via USB-C, but can attach magnetically for storage. It works with the new iPad Air and Pro models as well as previous-generation iPad models, which you can check out here . The second-generation Apple Pencil works with the most recent previous-generation iPads and lets you store and charge the pencil magnetically on the side of your tablet.
