The USA Basketball Showcase continues this week with its second and final game in Abu Dhabi.
The U.S. men’s basketball team will face Nikola Jokić and Serbia in its third Olympic preseason game on Wednesday afternoon. The U.S. has won each of its first two games and is coming off a tight 98-92 victory over Australia on Monday. Anthony Davis played a big part in the U.S. win with 17 points.
Australia and Serbia met on Tuesday, with the Boomers coming away with an 84-73 victory. Miami Heat’s Patty Mills led both teams in scoring in that game with 28 points – doubling Jokić’s total of 14 – on 7-of-13 shooting, including 4-of-7 from three-point range.
Wednesday’s game will also serve as a prelude to the group stage of the basketball tournament at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The United States and Serbia are both in Group C and will open the group stage against each other at the Olympics.

USA leads Serbia at halftime, 59-45
The United States battled until the end of the second quarter after a tough 10 minutes. A scoring run that began about halfway through the quarter gave the U.S. a 14-point lead at halftime.
Anthony Davis up to four blocks in the day
Much of Team USA’s scoring streak came from the solid defense of Lakers big man Anthony Davis, who blocked several shots during the run. The United States leads Serbia, 59-45.
USA extends lead to 13-2
Curry’s four-point play ignited the Americans, who added a big run to extend their lead to 53-42 with two minutes left in the second quarter.

The Celtics guard took the court for his first minutes with the U.S. national team midway through the second quarter.
Curry takes over
The U.S. team regained the lead on a three-pointer from Steph Curry, who followed up the scoring with a two-point drive and four-point plays on the next two possessions. The U.S. leads 44-40.
Curry and James team up to help Embiid make an easy shot
The two multiple NBA MVP winners combine with some nice passes to find Joel Embiid open under the basket for two quick points.
Serbia takes back the lead
The foul ball continued to haunt the USA, allowing Serbia to regain the lead with two three-pointers early in the third quarter. A tough drive by LeBron James ended an 8-0 run, but Serbia led 34-31.
United States – Serbia tied at 28 after the first quarter
Serbia managed to get the ball up the court quickly after a few missed shots by the U.S. team, and scored a layup at the buzzer to tie the score at the end of the first quarter.
Edwards ties USA with deep 3-pointer
After Team USA passed the ball around to start the possession, the ball ended up in the hands of Minnesota Timberwolves star Edwards. Edwards hit a three-pointer from the top of the key to tie the score at 24 with a minute left in the first quarter.
He then stole the ball and drew a foul to go to the line, where he made both free throws. The United States regained the lead, 26-24.
Jokić hooks shot over two defenders
With two Americans on him, the center passed the ball to Dobrić for a clear shot beyond the arc. After the miss, Jokić grabbed the backboard and sank a hard shot over the defense. Serbia leads 22-19.
Dobrić and Petrushev team up for a lob and a slam
On a breakaway following a steal, Serbian forward Ognjen Dobrić threw a pass to center Filip Petrušev, who slammed it over Anthony Davis to give Serbia an 18-15 lead.
Jokić hears MVP chants at free throw line
The three-time NBA MVP and reigning MVP was greeted by cheers from the crowd as he made two free throws. Serbia now leads 16-13 at the first media timeout.
Serbia takes and increases its lead
Several miscommunications led to turnovers by the United States, which allowed Serbia to take and extend its lead with an 8-0 run. Serbia leads the U.S. team, 14-13, halfway through the first quarter.
Steph Curry opens the scoring for the United States
After Team USA won the game, Curry hit a three-pointer from the left wing to open the scoring for both teams. He hit another three-pointer moments later to give the Americans a 7-4 lead two minutes into the game.
