Fantasy Baseball Outfielder Rankings for Early 2025

As per the All-Star break tradition, here are my rankings of the 2025 players, mostly for fun. I did my best to list the players who will be eligible for 20 games next year, and the upcoming free agents are listed without a team. Players with contract options for next year have an asterisk included with their team name.

  • Ronald Acuña Jr. tore his right ACL on July 10, 2021, and was back by April 28. A similar timeline this time around with his torn left ACL, suffered on May 26, would put him on track for Opening Day. Still, I expect the Braves to rest him for a few more weeks, most likely. Ideally, they could also give him some designated hitter time after bringing him back, but that would mean using Marcell Ozuna in the outfield, which is a scary thought. He only played two games in the field last year and has yet to appear there this season.
  • The free agent pool behind Juan Soto looks better than expected, with Teoscar Hernandez, Anthony Santander, Tyler O’Neill and Jurickson Profar all healthy. It will be interesting to see if Cody Bellinger joins the group. He has player options of $27.5 million for next year and $25 million for 2026, and given his somewhat disappointing numbers before suffering a broken finger, it seems likely he will choose to spend next year with the Cubs. Perhaps a big September would change that.
  • While consideration was given to first-overall pick Travis Bazzana, I only included one player selected in 2024 in the 2025 rankings, third-overall pick Charlie Condon of the Rockies. Condon is unlikely to make a major league debut next year, but he could be on his way by May or June. He hit 62 home runs for the University of Georgia over the past two seasons and has a ridiculous . 433/. 556/1.009 slash line in 60 games this season. Primarily a third baseman at Georgia, he’s likely to play corner outfield for the Rockies. Bazzana, a second baseman selected by the Guardians, could also be ready to contribute next year, but it’ll be tough to get past Cleveland’s plethora of infield options that quickly.
  • Lane Thomas is a tough player to beat. With eight home runs and 23 steals in 68 games this season, he’s clearly a top-30 fantasy outfielder, while also playing regularly and batting in the top third of the Nationals’ lineup. Thomas, however, is a poor defender with a .610 OPS against righties this season and a .679 mark in his career. I may be underestimating him here at No. 66 if the Nationals decide to keep him, but they have Dylan Crews on the way and even they’re going to realize he doesn’t really help them against righties.
