Sophie Turner is just living her life, baby.
Freshly back in her native England, leading a sizzling new crime series and enjoying the joie de vivre of a French summer, the actress has teamed up with St-Germain to star in a sexy new short film celebrating the booze brand’s seasonal cocktail, the Hugo Spritz.
On a warm June morning, looking stunning in a breezy butter-yellow summer dress and black sunglasses, Turner strolls into a white seaside chateau in the south of France, ready for her close-up — and her drink.
“What do spritz and I have in common? Well, we’re both pretty flirtatious,” Turner tells me with his infectious grin. “We’re bubbly, sweet. I think it’s refreshing—I hope I’m refreshing—and not too overbearing.”
St-Germain is made from hand-picked wild elderflowers. For the spritz, the liqueur is mixed with sparkling wine, soda water, lime and mint leaves.
In the film, Turner flirts with a handsome French bartender and jokes that she needs something “different” in her life, something “fresh and fun.” Her recent breakup with Joe Jonas isn’t mentioned, but the underlying context certainly adds to the deadpan humor Turner has become known for. The brightness she brings to the role—even when she’s joking about her own life—is also apparent in her demeanor as we chat. “Would you say you like your men the way you like your spritzes?” I joke. “Oh, yeah, that’s exactly how I like my men,” she says with a wink.
She’s magnetic, sarcastic and cool as a cucumber.
“Honestly, my life now feels like a Hugo Spritz,” she says. “I kind of enjoy this lighter, fresher energy that surrounds me.”
The past year has truly brought a renewed sparkle to the Game Of Thrones The Hollywood Reporter alum, who has made leaps and bounds in her career (with at least five TV and film projects currently in the works), has found love with British aristocrat Peregrine Pearson and joined Taylor Swift’s star-studded girl squad. 1989 “Every time, baby, this album never gets old,” Turner tells me when I ask her what era of Swift she’s in. “Although The Department of Tortured Poets “He’s got a really good hold on me right now,” she adds.
Turner was among thousands of people who attended the pop star’s Eras tour concerts in London last June – an “incredible, amazing” experience she shared with her close group of friends – and it’s just one of the highlights of her summer, which she says has so far been spent “doing barbecues and having cocktails” with her girlfriends.
“My recipe for a hot girl summer is playing with my kids (Willa, three, and Delphine, one), hanging out with my best friends, drinking cocktails—you know, the ones—and soaking up the sun, for a long time. As long as the sun is shining, I’m a happy boy,” says Turner, who sounds like a happy boy.
A few weekends ago, Turner shared photos of a dreamy picnic she enjoyed at the Pearson Estate in West Sussex. The scene looked like it was straight out of a movie. The sound of musicwith Turner sitting on a cozy blanket in a grassy field covered in flowers, looking lovely in a green and white plaid peasant blouse and high-waisted blue jeans (plus her black Ray-Bans, cool girl style).
“My summer aesthetic is all about the three Cs: cool, chic and comfortable. I don’t want to sweat under my boobs,” Turner says. “I go to Depop a lot. That’s where I get most of my clothes now. It’s sustainable, but it’s actually quite unhealthy because now I look at it like someone would look at Instagram; it’s just as addictive, and it’s driving me to bankruptcy.”
Turner has stepped up her fashion game considerably in recent months, having wowed at Louis Vuitton’s fall 2024 show in Paris in the most high waisted striped pants we’ve ever seen, and a few months later, in a belted bubblegum pink pantsuit at home Cruise Show 2025 in Barcelona.
“I love fashion in all its forms. I don’t think there’s really anything I wouldn’t do,” she admits. “In the past, I’ve said, ‘Oh, I wouldn’t wear low-rise jeans,’ and now they’re back in style. I think you can’t go wrong with how you express yourself.”
If she could swap her wardrobe with one of her former on-screen characters, Turner has no hesitation: it would be Sansa Stark. “I would take everything. I have literally never felt more powerful in my life than when I was wearing those costumes,” she says. “Would you just wear them on the street?” I ask of the armor-like costumes and massive fur coats she wore on the show. “Yeah, just on the street,” she says with a wry smile. “In London, no one would bat an eye.”“
Turner opted for a whole new makeover to film his new show Jeannein which she plays Joan Hannington, a famous London diamond thief. “I got to play in really fun ’80s clothes and characters, with ’80s makeup and hair, and it was a real treat,” she says. “It was a real pleasure as an actress.”
Turner read Hannington’s biography “at least three or four times” and even met with “the godmother” herself to get fully into character. The experience was tailor-made for the actress, who, as everyone in her circle knows, is a fan of crime dramas.
“Oh my God, I fall asleep listening to crime podcasts every night,” Turner admits. “If I’m spending the night with my friends, they’re so scared of me because they wake up in the middle of the night and they’re like, ‘And then he stabbed her!’ I love it. I love crime. I love anything that has to do with crime. So doing a crime show was a dream come true for me.”
Turner’s Hollywood resume leans heavily on action-packed dramas, but I find that her film St. Germain showed such a different side of her, or rather, more of her funny, sassy, quirky personality – ideal for, say, a romantic comedy.
“What’s funny about this campaign is that it was kind of an ode to the early 2000s rom-com, and I was really excited to do it because it’s something I’d never done and would love to do,” she says. “I’ve only done one comedy, and it was like a cameo, and I had a great time, so really, to all the casting directors out there reading this: I really want to do a rom-com!”
As for his dream love interest? Billie Eilish. “You know what I thought? There was a show (2023) Swarm) that Billie Eilish guest starred in and she was really good, and I think a queer rom-com with her and me would be great,” Turner says. Netflix, you heard it!
