The Penguin, the new crime drama starring an unrecognizable Colin Farrell, will premiere on HBO and Max on September 19. The series is a spin-off of Matt Reeves’ 2022 film The Batman, in which Farrell also played the Gotham mobster. Check out the dark official trailer below.
The Boys is getting a prequel: Vought Rising
Prime Video’s bloody superhero series is getting a spinoff, with Jensen Ackles returning as Soldier Boy and Aya Cash returning as Stormfront. The prequel, Vought Rising, will take viewers back to the 1950s, the early days of the corrupt corporation and Stormfront’s former identity, Clara Vought. Eric Kripke will serve as showrunner and executive producer.
Rings of Power Season 2 Goes ‘Nuclear’
The new season will premiere on Prime Video on August 29, and clips shared in Hall H show a massive fight with orcs and rings being forged. The show’s creators say Rings of Power season 2 is about “the coming of the nuclear age and everybody wants the bomb, everybody wants the nuclear codes, but what they don’t know is that it all feeds off of this guy (Sauron).” Adar and Sauron will be in conflict with each other, and giant creatures will be abound this time around. Check out the latest trailer here.
Like a Dragon: Yakuza
Adapted from Sega’s video game series, Like a Dragon: Yakuza brings Kamurochō to life on Prime Video. Fans were treated to clips on Friday featuring Ryoma Takeuchi as Kazuma Kiryu and Kento Kaku as Nishikiyama Akira. Check out the trailer below, which was released on Friday.
James Gunn’s Creature Commandos
In a surprise appearance at a panel hosted by DC Comics Chief Creative Officer Jim Lee, James Gunn showed up to promote Max’s new animated series, Creature Commandos. The voice cast includes Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Steve Agee as Economos, Anya Chalotra as Circe, Zoe Chao as Nina Mazursky, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Sean Gunn as GI Robot & Weasel, David Harbour as Frankenstein, and Alan Tudyk as Dr. Phosphorus. Doctor Who Gets New Spin-Off
Disney has revealed a new addition to the Doctor Who franchise that will take a trip back to the 1970s with the Sea Devils, a group of ancient beings that emerge from the sea. The series will air on Disney Plus, where fans can currently watch Doctor Who season 14 starring Ncuti Gatwa.

Season 3 has a release date
Horror mystery series From follows up its season finale with a third installment set to air September 22. Airing on MGM Plus, the series is set in a (seemingly) inescapable city threatened by bloodthirsty monsters.
Michael C. Hall Returns to Dexter
The Dexter universe continues to expand. At the Ballroom 20 panel for the upcoming prequel series, Dexter: Original Sin, the audience got their first look at the breakfast sequence, a fun callback to the original series’ opening credits. The show stars Patrick Gibson as the titular antihero and Christian Slater as Harry Morgan. Sarah Michelle Gellar, Christina Milian, and Patrick Dempsey round out the cast.
Michael C. Hall took the stage at the conference to reveal his role in the series. When the show premieres on Paramount Plus in December, we’ll hear him deliver his inner monologue. “It’s pretty intoxicating. It’s so rewarding,” he said. “I’ve spent so much time with this character, and to go back and see all the holes of imagination filled in is going to be awesome.”
As a bonus, Hall announced that he would be reprising the role that made him famous, in a new series called Dexter: Resurrection. The series will be set in the present day and will premiere in the summer of 2025.
