Kids Director Andrew McCarthy reunites with some of his 1980s Brat Pack co-stars in his new Hulu documentary. Some members of the Brat Pack accepted the invitation to be interviewed for the documentary while others declined.
The Brat Pack is the name New York Review Writer David Blum gave it to a group of young actors who starred together in several hit films in the 1980s.
The Brat Pack era officially began in 1983 with the release of the films The foreigners And Class and the band grew from there. Over the next seven years, one or more members of the Brat Pack appeared together in films such as Sixteen candles And Oxford Blues in 1984, The Breakfast Club And St. Elmo’s Fire in 1985 and Pretty in pink And About last night… in 1986.
Here’s a look at what the members of the Brat Pack look like today.
Molly Ringwald
Molly Ringwald, 56, is perhaps the star most identified with the Brat Pack films of the 1980s.
Ringwald’s Brat Pack movie roles include Sixteen candles like Samantha Baker, The breakfast club like Claire Standish, Pretty in pink as Andie Walsh and Jewel in 1988 Fresh horses.
Ringwald also played the role of Betsy in Betsy’s wedding in 1990, which is also considered a Brat Pack film.
Ringwald declined to be interviewed for Kids but is featured in stock footage.
Emilio Estévez
Emilio Estevez, 62, has starred in four Brat Pack films.
Estevez’s Brat Pack roles include Keith “Two-Bit” Matthews in The foreignersAndrew Clark in The breakfast clubKirby Keager in St. Elmo’s Fire and John Wisdom in 1986 Wisdom.
Estevez is interviewed in Kids.
Judd Nelson, 64, appeared in three Brat Pack films in the 1980s.
Nelson’s Brat Pack roles include John Bender in The breakfast clubAlec Newbury in St. Elmo’s Fire and Billy Turner in 1986 Blue city.
Nelson declined to be interviewed for Kids but is featured in stock footage.
Andrew McCarthy
Andrew McCarthy, 61, has starred in four Brat Pack films.
McCarthy played Jonathan Ogner in ClassKevin Dolenz in St. Elmo’s FireBlane McDonnagh in Pretty in pink and Matt Larkin in Fresh horses.
McCarthy also directs and appears in Kids. He recently discussed the documentary during a panel discussion featuring Demi Moore, Ally Sheedy and Jon Cryer following the film’s premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York.
Demi Moore
Demi Moore, 61, has starred in three Brat Pack films.
Moore played Julianna “Jules” Van Patten in St. Elmo’s FireDebbie Sullivan in About last night …and Karen Simmons in Wisdom.
Moore is interviewed in Kids and appeared on the Tribeca panel.
Rob Lowe
Rob Lowe, 60, has starred in all five Brat Pack films.

Anthony Michael Hall
Anthony Michael Hall, 56, starred in two Brat Pack films in the 1980s.
He played the Geek in Sixteen candles and Brian Johnson in The breakfast club.
Hall is not interviewed in Kids but is featured in stock footage.
Jon Cryer
Although not officially a member of the Brat Pack, Jon Cryer appeared in one of the group’s films.
Cryer played the role of Phil “Duckie” Dale in Pretty in pink opposite Molly Ringwald and Andrew McCarthy.
Cryer is interviewed in Kids and appeared on the Tribeca panel.
Winningham mare
Like Jon Cryer, Mare Winningham is not officially a member of the Brat Pack.
Winningham, however, played Wendy Beamish opposite Andrew McCarthy, Demi Moore, Ally Sheedy, Emilio Estevez, Judd Nelson and Rob Lowe in St. Elmo’s Fire.
Winningham is not interviewed in Kids but is featured in stock footage.
