Texas A&M baseball will have to wait a little longer to kick off its trip to the College World Series.
Due to weather conditions in the area, the NCAA baseball account on X (formerly Twitter) announced that the Aggies’ game against Florida in Omaha has been delayed.

The winner of that game will face No. 2 Kentucky in the 2024 College World Series “winner’s bracket” on Monday, while the loser will see NC State in the bottom bracket.
Texas A&M is playing in its second College World Series in the last three years. The Aggies are 2-2 in the CWS under coach Jim Schlossnagle. This go-round, Texas A&M will be without star outfielder Braden Montgomery, who suffered a season-ending leg injury last Saturday in the Bryan-College Station Super Regional against Oregon.

7:04 p.m.: As the impending storm heads toward Omaha, it’s worth mentioning the NCAA’s lightning delay protocols and rules: For every strike within a six-mile radius, the game is delayed 30 minutes. And for every shot heard and seen after the initial shot, 30 minutes are added to the timer.

“To resume sports activities, lightning protection experts recommend waiting 30 minutes after the last sound of thunder and after the last flash of lightning has been at least six miles away, and moving away from the site. If lightning is seen without hearing thunder, the lightning may be out of range and therefore less likely to pose a significant threat. At night, be aware that lightning may be visible at a much greater distance than during the day, as lightning strikes. Clouds are lit from within by lightning that lightning no longer poses a significant threat. At night, use both the sound of thunder and the lightning channel itself to decide when to reset the timer. return to play for 30 minutes before resuming outdoor athletics activities.
