OMAHA, Neb. − Tennessee baseball is off to a good start in the College World Series.
The Vols (56-12) will face North Carolina (48-14) on Sunday (7 p.m. ET, ESPN2) in their second CWS game after winning 12-11 against Florida State on Friday. UT pulled away from the Seminoles on a ninth-inning single by Dylan Dreiling to cap a four-run inning that erased a three-run deficit.
UT and UNC have not played since the 2019 Chapel Hill Regional. The Vols lost 5-2 in the regional final in the first postseason appearance under coach Tony Vitello.

Nate Snead stays in the game in the ninth inning, which begins with a nifty reversal by Christian Moore and a long run by Blake Burke to first base to get the first out.
Gavin Gallaher appears for the second out. Luke Stevenson walks on a 3-2 pitch. Jackson Van De Brake flies to the center to finish the game.
Tennessee is 2-0 in Omaha and in control of its side of the bracket. Vols will have a few days off and will face the winner Florida State-UNC on Wednesday. UT will have two games to win one and advance to the CWS finals.

Nate Snead enters the game and walks Vance Honeycutt before getting a double play and a lineout to end the inning.

Christian Moore runs into a double play to end the inning. Moore is 1 for 4 with a single and a stolen base tonight.

Tennessee’s pitching was much better today, with Kirby Connell working around a single in the scoreless 7th UNC.
Vols are six outs to advance to what would be the final four and stay on the winning side of the bracket.

Vance Honeycutt leads No. 6 UNC with a solo home run. After allowing two singles after the HR, Drew Beam is out. Kirby Connell will enter the game to pitch.
After a fielder’s choice, Connell caught a UNC runner trying to steal second base, and Blake Burke made the throw for the out on a 1-3-6 out. Connell gets another strikeout to end the inning.

Reese Chapman hits a solo home run to add to the lead. During this time, there will be a change with the umpire at the plate.
Kellen Levy leaves the game. Brady Smith is the replacement who will umpire at second base while Scott Cline will work behind the plate.
Tennessee 3, UNC 0, top 5: Drew Beam takes care
Drew Beam had his most stressful inning yet today, but he’s working around two walks with two strikeouts. The beam can reach 61 locations.
Colby Backus replaces Hunter Ensley at center
Colby Backus is in the game in center field for Hunter Ensley, who collided with the wall while making a catch in the second inning.

Shea Sprague hooks a changeup and Kavares Tears makes him pay with a three-run home run.
It was Tennessee’s second hit after Blake Burke’s leadoff single in the fourth. Dylan Dreiling also walked, leading the Tears home run.

Parks Harber singles for the first UNC hit, but Drew Beam throws around the runner for another scoreless inning. He now has 34 pitches in four innings.
