Rachel Lindsay is blasting her ex-husband, Bryan Abasolo, for allegedly exaggerating their “glamorous” lifestyle in his divorce filing in January.
In Lindsay’s affidavit, obtained exclusively by Page Six on Thursday, the former “Bachelorette” star says she “does not consent” to Abasolo’s request for spousal support and attorney fees.
“I’m not rich like he thinks I am,” writes Lindsay, 39. “And I certainly can’t pay his lawyer $75,000 to litigate our divorce without complications. If I did, I wouldn’t have enough money to pay my own lawyer. »
The former lawyer says she has “approximately $88,500 in non-retirement funds” and that her “financial situation has changed over the past few years.”
Lindsay currently co-hosts the “Higher Learning” podcast with Van Lathan.
“I’ve had sporadic social media gigs, but my main source of income since 2023 has been from my work with Spotify,” she explains.
The ex-reality star goes on to say that the estranged couple’s “marital standard of living (“MSOL”) was nowhere near as glamorous as Bryan describes it,” alleging that the two “rarely saw each other or even lived together during (their) brief marriage.
According to Lindsay, she and Abasolo — a 44-year-old chiropractor who also “hosts podcasts and receives income from social media” — had a wedding ceremony in Cancun in August 2019.
“However, we were legally married on October 4, 2019,” she said.
They agree that their separation date is December 31, 2023.
Abasolo, who met Lindsay while appearing on “The Bachelorette” in 2017, filed for divorce on Jan. 2.
“At all times, Bryan and I maintained separate bank accounts (checking and savings), credit cards, retirement accounts, and brokerage accounts. We did not have any joint accounts during our marriage,” she wrote, previously revealing that they did not have a prenuptial agreement.
“From October 2019 to March 2021, before we moved to Los Angeles, Bryan and I shared all household expenses. I used my income and he used his,” she says.
“Since we moved to Los Angeles in March 2021, I have paid for our housing costs, our pet care costs (including food, medication, daycare, boarding, vet bills, and pet insurance), and Bryan’s health insurance, while he has paid the gardener and contributed to some housekeeping costs.”
According to Lindsay, the couple’s marital home in Los Angeles was purchased in February 2022 “with funds from[their]separate property prior to the marriage.”
She alleges that Abasolo “continues to reside in his house without contributing financially to the operating costs.”
Lindsay goes on to explain their travels, saying that “their trips were either sponsored or (they) each paid for (their) own airfare.”
“If I was paying, I wasn’t flying business or first class with Bryan. He flew economy class. We usually split hotel costs 50/50,” she writes, claiming that “Bryan confuses many of the trips they took before the wedding with those they took during the marriage. »
Lindsay says Abasolo “fails to point out that the costs of many of these one-time trips were subsidized from other sources.”
“Before the wedding, we went to Mexico twice: once to visit our wedding venue and once for our wedding ceremony,” she says.
During their marriage, Lindsay says Abasolo took her to Santa Barbara “once for (her) birthday,” a trip he paid for.
“The NFL once sent me to Tennessee for a one-time work trip and paid for our trip,” she said. “I was going to New York a lot for work. Bryan would come with me sometimes.
Lindsay continues, “We went to Sarasota, Florida, twice for back-to-back weddings. We went to Washington, D.C., once to attend the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. I paid for that trip.”
Lindsay claims that she and Abasolo “went to Colombia once to attend her cousin’s wedding” and that they “each paid for their trip” and “split the hotel 50/50.”
Lindsay notes that they “took a sponsored trip to Mexico during their wedding with another couple from The Bachelor,” adding that they “did not pay for that trip.”
“He didn’t mention the trip to Aruba that we were paid for,” she wrote.
Lindsay adds that the restaurants Abasolo named in his statement “are not places he frequented.”
“For example, we once went to Mother Wolf to celebrate a special occasion. Bryan paid for this meal,” she says.
Lindsay claims that she and Abasolo “very rarely went out together and didn’t even have monthly dates” because “Bryan often worked late nights” and she “traveled a lot for work.”
