Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero is an RPG set in Ivory, a world of unique floating islands, that depicts the adventure (1,590 items)” href=”https://www.gematsu.com/genres/adventure”>adventure of a young girl named Marona who can communicate with ghosts, the spirits of those who have passed away.
The game’s appeal lies in its dynamic and versatile combat, allowing free movement across a grid-less battlefield. You can use unique systems like “Confine”, allowing ghosts you’ve befriended to combine and possess items on the map to fight alongside you.
Additional systems will expand your range of strategies, such as “Entrust” Marona to a befriended Ghost with strong ties to change the tide of battle, or “Entrust” Ghosts to gadgets on the map, like cannons and tanks.

■ History
Ivory, a world almost entirely covered in water and dotted with islands of different sizes. In this world, humans, beastmen, magical beings, and all kinds of life forms coexist.
Marona, a girl who can see Ghosts, works alongside her Ghost partner Ash as a Chroma, a type of entrepreneur who travels to different islands and solves people’s problems, upon request.
As Marona and Ash return home from a mission to Chroma, as usual, disaster strikes. Their ship is attacked by a group of vicious ghost ships known as the “Shipwreck Fleet”. A mysterious masked man steals Marona’s powers, and to save her, Ash jumps alone into the horde of enemies. So, Marona and Ash are separated.
After escaping the castaway fleet and stranded on a remote island, Marona meets a young ghost girl named Apricot, who wishes to find her missing father, the captain of the Argento pirate crew that defeated the castaway fleet. However, the crew is now on the verge of disbanding after losing their captain. Apricot wants to revitalize the crew and search for her father, and Marona agrees to help her.
To navigate this region of the sea which is full of pirate territories, they must become pirates themselves and expand their own territory. Marona and Apricot decide to work together to revitalize the Argento Pirate Crew in order to reunite with those they hold dear.
Set on the high seas, where pirates and ghost ships run rampant, this story about the connection between ghosts and the girl who connects with them begins now!

A girl who can talk with “ghosts”, the spirits of the dead.
A girl with the unusual power to interact with the souls of the dead. Because of this power, she was once looked down upon and called “The Possessed” by those around her. However, she is now treated as a hero after saving the world from Sulphur, the Lord of Terror. She is cheerful, optimistic, and kind, and works hard as a Chroma to help solve people’s problems.

A young man who supports Marona, even in death.
A young ghost who acts as Marona’s guardian and partner since her parents died when she was young. He is kind and has a strong sense of justice. Ash separates from Marona while protecting her from the mysterious shipwreck fleet.

A lonely ghost girl who longs to find her father.
A lonely ghost girl whom Marona meets when she finds herself on Skullrock Island. Her swordsmanship, which she learned from her heroic pirate father, is unmatched. However, since she has been unable to speak to anyone for many years, she is extremely shy. Encouraged by the optimistic Marona, she decides to search for her missing father and revitalize her pirate crew.

Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero features unlimited moves in battle! Characters can move freely within a radius during battle.
The game is turn-based, with both friends and enemies taking turns based on their speed. You can view the order of rounds in the upper right corner of the screen. Plan your strategy based on who will play next!
Containment: Transform objects like trees, rocks, and swords into friendly units
Thanks to Marona’s power, allied Ghosts can possess (Confine) objects on the map, such as trees and rocks, to participate in combat.
The deployed character’s stats will change depending on what they are confined to. For example, if they are confined to a rock, their defensive power will increase, but their speed will decrease. If they are confined to a weapon, their attack power will increase.
A system of unfathomable strategic depths
After a few turns, an ally’s confinement will end and the character will be removed (or removed) from the battle. Removed characters cannot be confined again during the same battle, so think carefully about who you confine and when!
—If you choose the wrong time to use Containment, it can put you at a huge disadvantage in battle!
You can confine objects behind enemy lines, objects around Marona to protect her, and much more. The choice of who, what, when, and where to confine makes this system rich in almost limitless possibilities!
Confriend: the power of bonds that can radically change the course of a battle
Marona can use a special version of Confine called Confriend to allow an allied ghost to possess her. By making friends with allies she has close ties to, her stats will increase significantly!
Additionally, special skills unique to Confriend will also be available. Unleash powerful attacks to completely turn the tide of battle!

Once again: an additional attack
When a Confriend skill is used to defeat an enemy, it will activate an Encore! This allows a character to perform an additional action.
Chain again to quickly increase their stats! With this, it is even possible to eliminate all enemies at once!

If Apricot is with you, she can drop robots, tanks with gigantic cannons and flying gadgets on the map! By “trusting” them, you can increase your attack range, vacuum up all sorts of objects, and perform a variety of other actions. Think about the strategic possibilities!

Different cards have different gadgets
On some maps you will find gadgets like cannons, catapults, fans and even slot machines. By approaching these gadgets, the player will be able to perform various actions, and if a ghost is confined in one of them, additional special actions will be available. Gadgets could be the key to conquering these cards!

Abundant character growth and post-game challenges
In the Skullrock Island Pirate Hideout, your in-game base of operations, you can access a variety of features such as character creation to prepare for battles and challenges.
In addition to the familiar “Reincarnation” character customization feature of the Disgaea series, Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero also features an “Awakening” option, which allows for easier character upgrades than reincarnation, as well as the “Juice Bar”, which allows you to transfer EXP to the character of your choice.
