Many have said that this is a slow year for gaming, but I’m having a hard time keeping up with all the games that are coming out. As someone who loves XDefiant and recently found love for a much-improved Fallout 76, I’m looking at the release schedule wondering how I’m going to have time for other games like Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn, Once Human, and coming soon, The First Descendant.
When two of the games I already play are live service titles, and two of the games I love are also live service titles, I start to think I won’t be able to play them all. Two is already hard, but four? I’m going to have to start creating a schedule for specific days, so I can get everything done.
What is the first descendant
Best Answer: The First Descendant is a free-to-play take on the genre popularized by Destiny and Warframe. First Descendant is an open-world looter-shooter MMO. Expect a mix of co-op content that will test the limits of players’ builds as they face an ever-increasing level of difficulty across a wide range of content.
The First Descendant is a free-to-play third-person co-op action RPG shooter featuring cooperative gameplay. Similar to Destiny and Warframe, players can experience fun and strategic boss fights through 4-player co-op and a variety of unique characters, exciting gunplay, and looting. A variety of gear is required for growth, and can be obtained by completing story missions in the game or in World Missions where cooperation is essential to defeat gigantic bosses.
The player becomes a descendant and is given the mission to fight against the invaders for the survival of the human race and to protect the “Ingris continent”. The player can experience a spectacular story by becoming stronger through various missions and stories to finally discover the secret of the Descendants. First Descendant is the first looter-shooter available on Unreal Engine 5.
When is The First Descendant released?
Best Answer: The First Descendant will be released on July 2, 2024, for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Steam, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4.
The First Descendant was first introduced to the world in July 2022. It was only a few months later that The First Descendant was put into closed testing. Players from all over the world were eligible to register.
Since then, increasingly better gameplay has been shown to the general public and some additional testing has been available for players. A few weeks before Summer Game Fest, NEXON Games announced that a release date was on the horizon. It was then shown at Summer Game Fest.
How much does First Descendant cost and will there be microtransactions?
Best answer: The First Descendant is a free game. While The First Descendant won’t cost anything for the base game, there will be microtransactions, including battle passes.
When The First Descendant was announced as a free-to-play game, many people were concerned about how the game would be monetized. Given NEXON’s track record with games like Maple Story, one can only imagine the kinds of things NEXON could potentially do. The main concern is whether the game will be paid.
For those unfamiliar, pay-to-win is a style of free-to-play game in which microtransactions can be made that advance the player in some way. Think of it as a time skip compared to everyone else. These issues are more prevalent in mobile games, but lately, the situation has gotten worse on other platforms.
Maybe you’re out of Event Tokens for a game? Buy more and keep playing the event! Maybe you’re out of Stamina? Again, buy more. Maybe you want that shiny new weapon, but it takes another 40 hours of work to get it? Pay $40 and it’s yours!
These are the kinds of deals that worry people, and rightly so. Fortunately, microtransactions are balanced around cosmetics only. However, I feel like this would have already been announced if that was the case. This is an easy thing to announce for free PR points.
What platforms will The First Descendant be streamed on?
Best Answer: The First Descendant is coming to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows PC, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4.
NEXON Games announced that The First Descendant would be coming to PC, current and previous consoles when it was first revealed. Surprisingly, they stuck to that idea. In an era where previous-gen consoles are being canceled or no longer being developed, it’s surprising to see a game released for the previous generation 11 years after its initial release.
In fact, I believe this is the first and only announced title coming to last-gen consoles that uses the Unreal Engine 5. The same engine that powers the graphical power of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 is the same engine which will run The First Descendant on the original Xbox One hardware. It’s impressive !
Is The First Descendant coming to Game Pass?
Best answer: No, The First Descendant is already a free game. There is currently no reason for this to come to Game Pass. However, there may be additional benefits in the future.
Since The First Descendant is already free-to-play, there’s no reason for the game to come to Game Pass. As it stands, the game won’t be coming to Game Pass. However, this does not mean that we will not see other types of partnerships.
There are many free-to-play games, such as Apex Legends, that offer perks to Game Pass users. Items like cosmetic skins or boosters are regularly available for those who redeem them on the platform. We will update this document if such a partnership occurs.
Will the first descendant be available in single player or offline mode?
Best answer: Yes and no, The First Descendant can be played solo, but players will need to stay online to play.
The First Descendant is playable solo. While I can’t say how far people can go, it has been reported that it is possible to play solo. However, this can be more difficult to do.
Due to the interconnectivity of the title and the nature of the game’s mechanics, The First Descendant cannot be played offline. This is to create both a seamless online experience and to protect against cheats, hacks, or memory modifications. Hopefully the servers will be robust on release day!
Will The First Descendant have crossplay or cross-progression?
Best answer: Yes, The First Descendant will have both cross-play and cross-progression between all platforms.
In an interview with God is Geek, The First Descendant producer Beom-jun Lee said that both would be coming: “Yes, that’s right. We support both cross-play and cross-progression, so you can play freely on any platform with shared progression.”
This is a huge win for players who play across multiple platforms. The ability to progress across multiple PC and console platforms is fantastic for players looking to enjoy both. I’m one of those players!
The lack of cross-play and cross-progression has become increasingly noticeable in games like Fallout 76. After playing the PC version for about 30 hours, I had to start all over again when I upgraded to the Xbox.
What are the system requirements for The First Descendant?
Best answer: For PC, the system requirements are:
Row 0 – Cell 0 | Minimum | Line 0 – Cell 2 |
Operating system | Windows 10×64 20H2 | Windows 10 x64 20H2 |
CPU | Intel i5-3570 / AMD FX-8350 processor | Intel i7-7700K / AMD Ryzen 5 2600X processor |
RAM | 8 GB | 16 GB |
GPU | GeForce GTX 1050Ti or AMD Radeon RX 570 4 GB video memory | GeForce RTX 2060 or AMD Radeon RX 5600XT |
Storage | 50 GB | 50 GB |
As you can see, compared to other releases from the last couple of years, The First Descendant is relatively light in terms of system requirements. Now I’m starting to see why it can run on previous generation systems! I wonder if it runs on iOS.
What is the frame rate for The First Descendant?
Best Answer: It largely depends on what platform you’re playing on. From the video I saw, both the Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 are targeting a 60fps performance mode, with an optional 30FPS fidelity mode. Xbox One and PlayStation 4 aren’t capped, running between 30-60FPS depending on XB1/PS4 vs XBX/PS4 Pro.
There is a user on YouTube who tested the gameplay of The First Descendant on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One X, and Xbox One. As you can see in the gameplay videos, the performance of the Xbox Series X|S versions is excellent. It is the Xbox One X and Xbox One that suffer and end up around 30 FPS in most cases.
The Xbox One X is capable of hitting between 45 and 50 FPS in most cases. This allows VRR-capable TVs running at 120Hz to compensate a bit for performance reasons. I couldn’t find a comparable set of test videos for the PS4 lineup.
