Travis Barker was a proud husband at his inaugural “Run Travis Run” event in Los Angeles this weekend.
The rocker organized and ran a 5K at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California, on Saturday, where he was joined by his wife, Kourtney Kardashian. The running and wellness experience began just eight months after Kardashian gave birth to the couple’s first child, a baby boy named Rocky.
“My wife is a beast!” Barker exclusively told Page Six. “She’s never done this[before]. She thinks I’m crazy because some mornings I wake up and she’s like, ‘Where are you going?’ I’m like, ‘I heard there’s a 5K, honey, I’m going to run it.’”
The two entered the event hand in hand and continued to display their affection towards each other in front of the crowd of hundreds watching and participating in the 5K.
Barker, 48, completed the 3.1 miles in under 20 minutes and watched in awe as Kardashian, 45, crossed the finish line with a few friends.
“It was really cool to have her be a part of it,” he said. “It was awesome. It was everything I imagined.”
The “Run Travis Run” concert, which benefits the Boys & Girls Club, kicked off just hours before Barker took the stage with Blink-182 for their “One More Time” tour at SoFi Stadium. The drummer has made running a pre-show ritual over the years and told us he’s thrilled to have found a way to now include fans in the experience.
“I feel good, I have a natural high after running. I do it every day… but not at this pace,” he said of his lifestyle. “But once you’re surrounded by all these people, you can’t help but be excited and motivated.”
All 5K participants received a limited edition t-shirt, medal, and entry into the Renewal Zone, which featured wellness activities and exclusive access to brands like Alo, Barker Wellness, Lemme, New Balance, Liquid Life IV, and more. VIP guests also received a gift bag and a special meet-and-greet experience with Barker himself.
“For me, it was like, ‘I run every day, so I should just invite people to run with me.’ But I found out it wasn’t that easy,” Barker told Page Six of creating the event.
“My manager said, ‘Oh actually you can’t do that, you have to have permits (on site)’. So I pulled out all the stops and partnered with Mascot (Sports) to put this event together and it was amazing,” he added. “It’s just the best feeling. I love getting all sorts of people together to run or walk and get together.”
Barker committed to maintaining a healthy and wholesome lifestyle after a 2008 plane crash that left him and Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein (now deceased) in critical condition. The four other passengers aboard the private plane, which was flying from South Carolina to Los Angeles, tragically died in the crash.
“Over 70 percent of my body was burned and doctors told me I might never walk or play drums the same way again. I was never an athlete and I never played sports, but I immediately felt the need to prove everyone wrong, including myself,” Barker said in a statement on the Run Travis Run website, recalling the 11-plus weeks he spent in hospitals and burn centers while recovering from the accident.
“I started with short walks and then I started running every day. I felt a sense of calm and a dopamine rush every time I ran,” he continued. “I’ve been doing this for years and I always start my day with it. I even run two miles every day before shows when I’m on tour.”
Barker has since thanked Kardashian, whom he married in 2022, for encouraging him to fly again after the tragedy.
In addition to Rocky, Barker is also dad to son Landon, 20, and daughter Alabama, 18, whom he shares with ex-wife Shanna Moakler.
He has also remained a father figure to Atiana De La Hoya, Moakler’s 25-year-old daughter from her previous relationship with Oscar De La Hoya, and is stepfather to Kardashian’s three other children — Mason, Penelope and Reign — with ex Scott Disick.
Atiana attended the event over the weekend and was seen cheering on Barker and Kardashian and taking videos as they began the race. Meanwhile, Landon has been busy with rehearsals as he prepares to join his dad in opening some shows on Blink-182’s current tour.
“I love it. Nothing makes me happier,” Barker told Page Six, explaining how proud he is to see his son follow in his footsteps. “I saw him yesterday and he’s rehearsing, he’s doing everything he needs to do to put on great shows.”
Page Six spotted Landon, along with stars like Kardashian, Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox, watching the Blink-182 show from a VIP section of SoFi Stadium in Inglewood on Saturday night.
Barker took the stage alongside his original bandmates Mark Hoppus and Tom DeLonge after opening for Hot Milk and Pierce the Veil. The concert marked their largest stadium show to date.
The crowd went wild as the rock band performed hit after hit throughout the night – including “All the Small Things,” “The Rock Show,” “Say It Ain’t So,” “Aliens Exist” and “What’s My Age Again?” – accompanied by pyrotechnics and plenty of witty banter between Hoppus and DeLonge.
“This is such a special moment I can see it. It’s music,” Landon later wrote on his Instagram Stories, above a video of Barker performing. “Congratulations dad, this is the coolest thing ever.”
Next, Blink-182 will head to Fresno, California for their “One More Time” tour while the second “Run Travis Run” event kicks off on July 21 at Citi Field in Queens, New York.
